Enauta closes the week with good news. Last Tuesday (30th), the company announced that it has completed all the connections of the subsea system and lines with the FPSO Atlanta, bringing it closer to the start of operations at the Atlanta Field in the Santos Basin.
For the start of production on the new platform, adaptation activities mandated by regulatory agencies, final testing, and commissioning are underway. The issuance of the environmental operating license and authorization from ANP – National Agency of Petroleum – are still pending. The company’s initial expectation is that the first oil will be extracted in August, with an estimated production of 50,000 boed.
Speaking of the Atlanta Field, Enauta announced last Monday (29th) that it resumed production at the site after 45 days of maintenance on the FPSO Petrojarl I. Production is stabilized at around 20,000 boed.

MODEC: Thirteen FPSOs chartered and two under construction
MODEC has demonstrated resilience and continued leadership in Brazil’s FPSO market despite the conclusion of the Shell Fluminense FPSO contract and Enauta‘s decision not to purchase the Cidade de Santos. The Japanese company remains a dominant force, with a fleet of 13 chartered vessels, as highlighted by WSB.One, most of which are contracted with Petrobras.
MODEC’s FPSOs consistently deliver impressive production figures. In May, FPSO Guanabara, operating in the Mero field in the Santos Basin, achieved outstanding performance with a production of 179,546 barrels of oil and 11.68 million cubic meters of gas, per day. Other noteworthy FPSOs include Cidade de Angra dos Reis and Cidade de Itaguaí, both located in the Tupi field, the largest oil-producing field in Brazil.
MODEC is further progressing with the construction of the Raia and Bacalhau FPSOs, for Equinor, Campos and Santos Basins, respectively.

Enauta’s oil production
Enauta released the summary of its operating results for May 2024. The Brazilian oil company produced 504 thousand barrels of oil equivalent (boe) in the previous month, with an average of 16.3 thousand barrels per day.
The numbers represent a drop compared to the previous month when the company produced 600,000 boe, with an average of 20,000 barrels per day. This drop is due to a five-day break for maintenance of the FPSO Petrojarl which works in the Atlanta field, in the Santos Basin. Natural gas production for May was not disclosed by Enauta.
All this data refers to the Atlanta field, the company’s main asset. It also owns 45% of the Manati field, which is stopped for system adjustments, with the return of production scheduled for the end of June.

FPSO already in brazilian waters
The FPSO Atlanta arrived in Brazil this week and has already started anchoring operations in the field of the same name, in the Santos Basin. Its arrival is on schedule as planned by the company, which aims to start exploratory activities in August this year.
Built by Yinson, the vessel has the capacity to process 50,000 barrels of oil per day, 140,000 barrels of water per day, and store 1.6 million barrels of oil. The FPSO Atlanta and all exploration in the region are expected to create jobs, new charter contracts for offshore support vessels, and boost the national economy.
As reported by us last month, six AHTS vessels have already been contracted, five from GRUPO CBO (Parintins, AH Valetta, Bossa Nova, Iguaçu, and Endeavour) and one from Bram (Kirt Chouest). However, it is only a matter of time before the company opens up new chartering opportunities.
Another FPSO on its way to Brazil that promises to stir the market is the Maria Quitéria, which left China a week ago, and will be electric. This vessel, also built by Yinson, will operate for Petrobras in the Jubarte Field in the Campos Basin, with an estimated oil production of 100,000 barrels per day starting in 2025.

FPSO Atlanta on the way
Two important milestones have just been reached on the Atlanta project (Enauta) this month: the flexible risers have embarked on BBC Chartering BBC Greenland with ETA Rio de Janeiro 30th March 2024. These are the last components of the subsea system of the field to depart to field. Conversely the FPSO Atlanta has started her journey to Brazil today and is expected to arrive in early May. After being hooked up and lines pulled in, first oil is expected within August.

Production details
Enauta produced 27.000 boed of oil in February, 5% more than what the company recorded in the previous month. The main reason responsible for this was the Atlanta field, in the Santos Basin, currently the company’s main asset. Enauta has three wells and the FPSO Petrojarl I is in full production in the field.
PRIO meanwhile…
Also in February, PRIO produced 82.8 thousand boed of oil, a reduction of 13.3% compared to January. The main reason responsible for the drop was the Frade field, in the Campos Basin, with a decline of 22.2%, closing at 40.2 thousand boed. The Brazilian company stated that the numbers are explained by a defect in the gas compressor and guaranteed that a repair had already been carried out.

Enauta with new tender
Shortly after coming out with a long term opportunity to charter PSVs, Enauta hits the market with another tender, this time seeking to hire AHTS vessels. The Brazilian oil company is looking to expand and optimize their fleet, especially in preparation for the arrival of the new FPSO Atlanta, which will soon leave Dubai bound to Rio de Janeiro.
The hook-up and commissioning of FPSO Atlanta is expected to happen sometime during Q2 2024, with Enauta having already secured the vessels that will take part in this operation. Both tenders have deadline for offers within March 2024 and the PSVs and AHTSs to be hired will support the production activities at Atlanta field.

enauta’s drilling concluded
Enauta informed that it completed the drilling and completion of well 6 (7-ATL-6H-RJS) in the Atlanta field on schedule and within budget. In addition, the company announced that completion of well 7 (7-ATL-7HA-RJ), the last of the Atlanta Phase 1 set of wells, is scheduled still for the current quarter.
These two wells, together with well 5 (7-ATL-5H-RJS), are part of the Definitive System (SD) in Atlanta which has six wells, three of which are transferred from the field’s Early Production System (SPA). The company estimates that the Atlanta SD will be extracted at the end of 2024. The field is located in Santos Basin and is operated by Enauta with 100% participation.

FPSO Atlanta is sold
The Malaysian company Yinson has exercised the purchase option and acquired FPSO Atlanta from Enauta. It will be installed in the field of the same name, in the Santos Basin. Phase one of the Atlanta development is expected to begin production in mid-2024 through six wells.
Yinson acquired the FPSO through the acquisition of AFPS BV, the company that controls the platform. The value of the purchase is US$ 465 million. Of this amount, US$86 million will be paid now and the balance will be paid over 15 years. According to Enauta, Yinson’s decision is important
togiven that it will save US$ 100 million in the Atlanta Definitive System project. In addition, the oil company informed that the sale will reduce risks in the development of the Atlanta Field. -
Enauta resumes production at Atlanta field
Enauta informed this Wednesday that it has resumed production in the 7-ATL-2HP-RJS well in the Atlanta field. Production had previously been interrupted due to a preventive maintenance late last month. The Brazilian oil company expects to have another 2 wells producing in this field by the end of September. During the maintenance period Enauta made inspections and engineering modifications in the FPSO Petrojarl I. Earlier this year, Enauta signed a contract with Yinson with the intention of deploying another FPSO for the Atlanta field.

Production at Atlanta field about to restart
The programmed maintenance stoppage in Atlanta field production held by Enauta Energia S.A. in the first week of July, approaches an end. The Brazilian oil company informed this Sunday that production gradual resumption shall take place mid August and should reach normal standards by September. During the down time, Enauta prepared the FPSO Petrojarl I to recertification by DNV in order to enable a contract extension and continuous operation until the start of the Definitive Production system expected for Q3/2024. Located in Santos Basin, the Atlanta field is 100 % owned by Enauta Energia.

CBO Ipanema starts new contract with Enauta
PSV 4500 CBO Ipanema has recently been awarded a long term contract with Enauta. She is currently under charter with Petrobras and upon conclusion will go on an adaption period in preparation for its new charter. The vessel will operate in Atlanta field which will soon have its expansion together with the arrival of Yinson’s FPSO Atlanta. CBO Ipanema was originally built for Petrobras’ fleet renewal program (Prorefam) and is concluding its 8 year charter.
