    Prio’s new OSV?

Back in 2022, PRIO announced the acquisition of the semi-submersible rig West Capricorn, which has since been renamed Hunter Queen and is presently involved in drilling activities for the company. While not officially announced, it appears that the Brazilian oil company will add a 2002-built MPSV named Edda Fjord to its fleet this year.

The former vessel operator, Østensjø Reder, formally announced that it has been delivered to its new owners in Haugesund, Norway, and is currently en route to Brazil. The sale price was not disclosed. As the company is not a Brazilian Shipping Company (EBN), PRIO is likely to hire one to take care of the vessel’s management and operations.

PRIO started production at well ODP5 (“F23P3”) in the Frade field, Campos Basin. At first, the Brazilian independent produces 8,000 boed at the site, bypassing the 100,000 boed total mark. In June, PRIO produced 96,000 boed, 57% of which came from the Frade field.

Frade is, therefore, the company’s main operational asset. The delivery of the ODP5 well is part of the third phase of the field’s revitalization. The start of production however, was scheduled for a year from now. The Frade field is located approximately 118 km off the north coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, in water depths between 1,050 and 1,300 meters.
